Grilled Steak with Mushroom Sauce
A Weeknight Dinner That Feels Like a Treat
Need something quick but impressive? This grilled steak with creamy mushroom sauce is packed with flavor and ready in just 20 minutes. It’s the perfect go-to for busy evenings or dinner with guests.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 1.5 lbs (680 g) top sirloin or entrecôte steak
- 1/2 tsp steak seasoning (or mix of garlic powder, paprika, black pepper)
- 1 lb (450 g) fresh mushrooms (e.g., cremini or mixed)
- 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) beef broth
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
Preparation
- Grill the Steak
- Slice the steak into 4 portions.
- Season each with steak spices.
- Grill or pan-fry over medium heat for 5–7 minutes per side.
- Check doneness with a meat thermometer:
- Medium-rare: 135°F (57°C)
- Medium: 140°F (60°C)
- Medium-well: 145°F (63°C)
Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes, covered loosely with foil.
- Make the Mushroom Sauce
- Melt butter in a skillet. Sauté mushrooms until soft and browned.
- Add Dijon mustard, beef broth, rosemary, and thyme.
- Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce reduces by half (about 5 minutes).
- Pour the sauce over the grilled steak and serve hot.
